Metallica performed an intimate, fan club-only gig Tuesday night at New York’s Webster Hall, with the heavy metal act using the occasion for the live debut of their latest Hardwired… to Self-Destruct track “Moth Into Flame.”

“We’re going to play ‘Moth Into Flame’ for you special folks. I hope you feel special,” James Hetfield told the 1,500-person crowd before launching into the song. “Alright, we’ll ask you after the song.” Despite its inaugural run-through, Metallica delivered a crisp, thundering rendition of the track that the band initially debuted Monday following a visit to the Howard Stern Show.
